Don&#8217;t miss it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the SAD document<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The SAD document, also know as a C88 Document in the UK, is an&nbsp;<strong>administrative document containing the export and import declaration of companies<\/strong>, which must be&nbsp;<strong>presented to customs before starting the commercial transfer<\/strong>&nbsp;and it can be&nbsp;<strong>submitted electronically or physically<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This certificate is&nbsp;<strong>required by the customs authorities<\/strong>, along with the rest of the administrative formalities for this type of operation outside the European Union. This means&nbsp;<strong>you will need to complete a C88 form if you ship from the UK to the EU or vice verse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The document was&nbsp;<strong>created with the aim of grouping together all the administrative paperwork required by companies<\/strong>&nbsp;to be able to carry out their export and\/or import activity, with the objective of facilitating its completion and subsequent control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAD legislation needed to take full account of today\u2019s environment and adapt with the evolution that occurred since its inception. Thus, it is&nbsp;<strong>made up of 8 copies<\/strong>&nbsp;(sheets).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Each of the 8 copies has a different function<\/strong>. The most relevant functions are the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For export<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Copy 1<\/strong>: to be completed for the customs office of dispatch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Copy 3<\/strong>: for the exporter or consignor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Copy 4<\/strong>: to justify the Community status of the goods, at the customs office of destination belonging to the European Union, as well as Andorra and San Marino.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For imports<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The following must be presented:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Copy 6<\/strong>: to be presented for the customs office of import.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Copy 8<\/strong>: for the importer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Others<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand,&nbsp;<strong>goods return operations<\/strong>&nbsp;involve the completion of&nbsp;<strong>copy 5<\/strong>. Finally,&nbsp;<strong>copies 2 and 6<\/strong>&nbsp;are used to&nbsp;<strong>draw up statistical reports<\/strong>&nbsp;on the flow of international trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When to present the SAD?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The SAD or C88&nbsp;form in the UK,&nbsp;<strong>must be presented for international shipments<\/strong>&nbsp;to countries outside the European Union, and must always be accompanied by these documents, which we discussed in the article on the requirements for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/scrapad.com\/en\/blog\/requirements-for-importing-into-spain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">importing into Spain<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Commercial invoice.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/scrapad.com\/en\/blog\/packing-list-waste-shipping\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/scrapad.com\/en\/blog\/packing-list-waste-shipping\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Packing list<\/a> or list of contents.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Certificate of origin.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Transport document.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Peculiarities of the Single Administration Document<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The SAD and C88 as an import declaration has certain peculiarities or curiosities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Although it is considered a single document, it actually&nbsp;<strong>consists of the 8 parts explained above and breaks down into 54 boxes<\/strong>, and as we have seen, each part fulfils a different function.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This document&nbsp;<strong>may be presented by<\/strong>:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Goods in their own name and for the account of others.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Those who do so by proxy by means of.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Those for whom the goods are consigned.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Extreme care<\/strong>&nbsp;must be taken when completing the SAD, as&nbsp;<strong>its presentation implies the declarant&#8217;s commitment<\/strong>&nbsp;that the information contained in the SAD is true and corresponds to the goods.&nbsp;<strong>Making a mistake<\/strong>&nbsp;when filling it in&nbsp;<strong>could lead to the initiation of the relevant penalty proceedings<\/strong>. In some circumstances, rectifications may be made if it is found that there are errors or that the data does not correspond to the export invoice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>In order for rectification to be possible, the goods must still be in the customs area<\/strong>, and provided that the&nbsp;<strong>authorities have not approved the release of the goods<\/strong>, nor verified the inaccuracy of the data.&nbsp;<strong>The SAD may not be rectified<\/strong>&nbsp;if the Customs Authorities have already informed the declarant of their intention to carry out a physical examination of the goods.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope this post about&nbsp;<strong>what is the Single Administration Document<\/strong>&nbsp;has clarified some concepts for you.
