--xxlPadding: 80px 200px 80px 200px;  \">\n        \n<div class=\"wp-block-scrapad-blocks-container c-post\">\n<div class=\"c-article__desc wp-block-scrapad-blocks-article-desc\">\n<p>The Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the <strong>lifting of the ban on the export of ferrous scrap<\/strong> and other industrial waste, introducing <strong>export taxes<\/strong> instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The taxes that the government has announced are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For <strong>ferrous scrap with HS<\/strong> (Harmonised Commodity Description and Coding System) <strong>codes<\/strong> <strong>720450, 720449, 720441,<\/strong> <strong>720430, 720429, 720421 and 720410<\/strong>, the tax is set at AED 400 per tonne ($109).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For<strong> copper waste and scrap<\/strong>, with <strong>HS code 74040000<\/strong> the tax is also set at AED 400 per tonne (USD 109).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For <strong>aluminium scrap with HS code 76020000<\/strong> the tax is AED 100 (USD 27).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Potential impact on ferrous scrap trade&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Increased export trade:<\/strong> For UAE scrap suppliers, which were previously limited to domestic markets, this change is expected to <strong>stimulate the growth of scrap and waste trade in the Middle East and North Africa<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Challenges for local mills:<\/strong> Small local mills in the UAE may find it difficult to compete with international scrap buyers due to higher costs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lower profitability for exporters:<\/strong> Scrap buyers believe that UAE exporters will have to absorb the cost of the tariff to remain competitive, which could affect their profits.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Uncertain impact on market prices:<\/strong> The exact impact of the duties on scrap prices and overall market dynamics remains unclear.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The UAE&#8217;s decision to lift the export ban and impose tariffs on scrap and waste exports <strong>may represent a major policy change with potential impacts<\/strong> on both domestic and foreign markets.
