Most recognised sustainability certificates
Sustainability is an essential term in ScrapAd’s vocabulary. It is one of our values, and we know that more and more companies and institutions are working to create a greener, more planet-friendly future.
Sustainability certificates help these companies to promote business models that preserve the environment. That is why, in this article, we tell you which are the most recognised sustainable certificates.
What is a sustainability certificate?
A sustainability certificate is an official document that guarantees compliance with a series of standards aimed at reducing the environmental impact and promoting the sustainability of an entity, project, process or product. This document plays the role of an identification seal and guarantees the environmental responsibility of the company.
Types of sustainability certificates
There are several types of environmental certifications.
ISO 14001 Certificate – Environmental Management
ISO 14001 is an international standard that establishes the requirements for implementing an effective environmental management system in an organisation. This sustainability certificate focuses on the continuous improvement of environmental practices and the reduction of negative impacts on the environment.
End of Waste Status Certificate
The End-of-Waste Certification is a process by which it is certified that a material previously considered as waste has been transformed or recovered in such a way that it is no longer considered a waste, but a product or raw material.
Zero Waste Certificate
The Zero Waste Certificate recognises companies that work and manage to recover the different fractions of waste they generate in order to prevent them from being disposed of in landfills. These companies, therefore, promote correct waste management in which they encourage the responsible, sustainable and efficient use of their resources, incorporating the resulting waste into their production system.
EMAS Certification (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme)
This is a voluntary management system that goes beyond the requirements of ISO 14001. This system requires organisations to make a publicly verified environmental statement and commit to continually improving their environmental performance.
BCorp Certificate
The BCorp certificate was created in the United States by NGO Lab with the aim of promoting a different economy on a global scale, where profitability can be combined with social and environmental impact. Companies that are assessed by B Corp for certification must demonstrate that they have a positive impact on their employees, communities and the environment.
Currently, more than 55 companies in Spain have the B Corp seal, including ScrapAd.
At ScrapAd we work every day to provide the world of recycling and industry with a tool to promote the circular economy and facilitate the work of people working in the sector.
