ScrapAd, the first marketplace to obtain B Corp certification in Spain
ScrapAd has achieved B Corp certification, which recognises good practices and compliance with the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and corporate responsibility.
“We couldn’t be prouder of this new achievement, which further reinforces our purpose as a responsible company. We want to provide the world of industrial recycling with a tool to promote the circular economy and facilitate the work of people working in the sector” says Samuel Ruiz de Lorenzo, CEO and founder of ScrapAd.
Sandra Montes Pérez, COO and founder of ScrapAd, adds that “respect for the environment and people are in our company’s DNA. We currently have 1,000 users from 71 countries and an announced material volume of €1.1 billion. As an example of ScrapAd’s impact, if all of this material were transacted and recycled, the savings in CO2 emissions would be the equivalent of one million vehicles on the road for an entire year”.
The B Corp standard measures management performance across the whole company and covers five key impact areas: Governance, Employees, Community, Environment and Customers. It is awarded by B Lab to leading companies in their social and environmental commitment after passing a rigorous assessment process through which companies must provide evidence of good practice and incorporate their legal commitment to social purpose into their charter.
ScrapAd, as a scrap marketplace, is now part of a community of nearly 4,000 companies around the world that have become B Corps. The B Corp community reflects the European economy with companies coming from multiple industries and sizes. These include well-known brands such as Patagonia, Alpro, Camper, Triodos Bank, Alessi, Ecoalf and Innocent.
